 Artem Yatsunov

artem@strangedogtheatre.com

Resident play-director of StrangeDog, Artem is responsible for numerous StrangeDog projects and productions. Past December with StrangeDog he staged the world-premier of Omnivores by Ben Clawson at Playwrights Theatre of NJ (art.dir. John Pietrowski); next he took a crack at a classic with Shakespeare's RIchard III for The Alliance Repertory Theatre (art.dir. Michael Driscoll) in Rahway, re-imagining the nightmarish story with just 8 actors as a dark "play-within-a-play" comedy. Artem also frequently collaborates with Abbey Theatre's David Gothard, Frank Hentchker of the CUNY Graduate Center, and his MSU mentor Jorge Caceiro. In Spring '09 he assisted producer Frank Hentschker and actor-director Harry Burton on Harold Pinter Memorial Celebration, a featured event of the PEN World Voices Festival at the Martin E. Segal Center (CUNY), which brought together such notable artist and activists as Emily Mann, Neil Pepe, John Guare, Paul Schrader, and PEN President Salmon Rushdie; curated by Mr.Burton, the all-day event featured performances by Henry Wolf, Brian O'Byrne and Jason Isaacks. Artem and StrangeDog co-founders Ben Clawson and Scott Cagney participated in the month-long William Carlos Williams inspired workshop Paterson Project under the leadership of David Gothard (prod. Jedediah Wheeler.)
